We are still having classes in December on Wednesday and
Fridays. We are offering a month of classes (4) for $35.00. We
have a wonderful facility with free parking and a large dance
floor to practice on after classes.
We are providing two types of formats to enahnce the
dancers learning experiece during class and after.
On Wednesday we have extended classes from 7:45 to 9:15;
the instructors can spend more time getting improtance
concepts accross to the stundents without interuption.
On Friday we continue the traditional one hour
format followed with the longest ongoing West Coast
Swing Social in Houston.
Wednesday Classes At Melody Club (all classes start at 7:45 - we start social dancing at 9 ish)
Level I basic 6-beat patterns of West Coast Swing (*See below for more information about Friday's parallel Level IA class)
Level II teaching some of the basic 8-beat West Coast Swing patterns.
Level IV - teaching some awesome continuations. Basically, continuations combine two patterns into one longer pattern by removing two beats. Come one out and learn more.
REMEMBER: Melody Club has Friday dances. Come out and enjoy dancing, food, dancing, drink, and... um... dancing. The cover charge is only $5.00. We start dancing at 9:00. AND, check out our new June Friday Workshop Schedule (the workshops start at 8:00).

Level I- Beginners, teaches some of the basic 6-beat patterns of West Coast Swing. And, don't forget that we have a parallel Level IA class on Wednesdays. If you pay for Friday's Level IA class, then Wednesday's Level IA is FREE, FREE, FREE! Then stay after class to practice what you learned and dance with more advanced dancers.
Level IIA - NOT YET! But coming soon: parallel Level II Classes.

*****New - starting next month in July. If you need to retake a level from Level 1a to level 3b you will be able to do so at half price. If you feel you need to retake a level you will be able to do that at half the cost; if you have already taken that level once. Remember each level has an a & b so therefore you must take level 1a & 1b before you can retake 1a or 1b level at half price.

Ladies Only: This two-part workshop will focus on follower technique and styling
June 10th’s “Walk the Walk” – Taught by Kelly Faust. This Part One Workshop will focus on the smooth and sexy walk for which West Coast Swing is known.
June 17th’s “Styling and Technique” – Taught by Kelly Faust. This Part Two Workshop will focus on the arm-lines and technique associated with West Coast Swing.

Intro to WCS

Start your evening off by
learning a few WCS steps before the BIGGEST Swing Night
starts!
LEVEL 1-
Fundamental 6-beat patterns with
emphasis on lead / follow, connection, footwork and timing.
When to Advance: The men can lead the basics
on time, or the women follow the basics without anticipation,
and both can dance to the beat, with a smile.
LEVEL 2

You are at an Intermediate level if
you can dance the Newcomer and Beginning patterns successfully.
This class has more complex patterns, more subtle leads and
follows.
When to Advance: The men lead on time with subtle
leads, or the women follow without anticipation.
LEVEL 3
-
You are at an Advanced level when
you can dance the Intermediate level patterns with subtlety and
are ready to start listening to music for the breaks and play
within the music. You will learn better connection so that
the music becomes part of the dance. |
